The HOST® Dry Extraction Cleaning System is a proven method for achieving clean and dry flooring that looks its best every day. But did you know that using HOST can contribute to a cleaner environment both inside and outside your facility? In fact, no other cleaning system has the variety of independent certification and research that HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner has. This summary of independent research and certifications shows that HOST is environmentally preferred and the best choice for green, clean and dry flooring that looks its best every day.
HOST is Green Seal Certified
The Green Seal is awarded to products that meet the standards of performance, safety and reliability. Because HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner achieved the Green Seal Certification, you can be sure that it will promote a cleaner, healthier environment, cause less toxic pollution, reduce waste and conserve resources and habitats.
HOST is BioPreferred Certified and is 100% Biobased
HOST is the only dry carpet cleaner to receive the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) BioPreferred Certification. HOST and HOST SJ are all certified as 100% Biobased!
EPA Design for the Environment (DfE)
Racine Industries is recognized as a Champion in the EPA’s Design for the Environment SDSI Program. This reflects our ongoing corporate commitment to formulating safer and more biodegradable products.
HOST Helps Earn LEEDS Credits
The US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Rating System® “is a voluntary, consensus-based, national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.” Using the HOST Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning System can contribute to earning credits toachieve and maintain building certification. Unlike other green cleaning systems, the HOST System goes beyond green cleaning and may also contribute to Innovation in Operations credits regarding water and waste water conservation, energy conservation, and Integrated Pest Management.
WoolSafe Certified
WoolSafe Approved Certification means that a product cleans well, that it will not damage fibers or colors, and that it does not leave a residue that would promote rapid resoiling. The WoolSafe Organization is an international certifying body focused on carpet cleaning and maintenance products for wool and wool blend carpets. It's purpose is to indicate that products have been tested and approved as being suitable for these carpets. Products are tested on a range of characteristics in two categories: defensive tests and performance tests. WoolSafe Approved means that the product is effective, has low resoiling characteristics, is low in alkalinity, has no bleaching agents, no optical brighteners, is nonflammable, nonhazardous, environmentally responsible and has clear and concise use directions.
Improves Indoor Environmental Quality
ACCORDING TO THE EPA, “MOISTURE CONTROL IS THE KEY TO MOLD CONTROL”
Avoids Mold & Mildew Growth
The HOST System uses less than one teaspoon of liquid per square foot cleaned. Unlike wet cleaning
methods, HOST does not leave carpets wet or moist with waste water that can lead to mold growth if it isn’t
dried quickly enough.
In fact, HOST helps remove mold and mildew from carpets.
Reduces Indoor Allergens
Research studies by Judith Bates, Ph.D. Biochemistry*, have shown that one cleaning with the HOST System
using HOST Machines reduces:
• Dust mites by 78%
• Cat allergen by 85%
• Dust mite allergen by 75%
• Mold spores by 85%
Additional tests with the HOST Liberator® & Freestyle® machines show even greater allergen extraction:
• Dust mite allergen by 89%
• Mold spores by 97%

Conserves Water and Energy
Energy
Water useage drives the amount of energy used in carpet cleaning. Using HOST, there is:
• No water to heat
• No need to run dehumidifiers and air conditioners
• No need to use blowers to dry carpet to remove moisture from the carpet and air
Water
Use of in-house or municipal water is zero with the HOST System. You save 100% of what water a wet
cleaning system requires. The water necessary for carpet cleaning, already in HOST, amounts to less than
one teaspoon per square foot cleaned.
The HOST System deep cleans carpet with 97% less water than high-flow wet extractors.
